What's the process of fitting a hair system for hair loss?

First, request a consultation

To get started, complete a simple questionnaire here.  That gives me your contact details and a few basic details about your hairloss journey.

Once I have received your responses, I'll be in touch by phone to arrange your consultation.

What happens at your consultation?

The consultation is there for THREE main purposes:

First, it gives me a chance to explain the fitting and maintenance of your system in full detail and I'll answer all of your questions.

Second, I'll perform a simple allergy skin test to make sure you don't react to any of the products we'll be using during the fitting of your system.

Finally, if you wish to go ahead, I will analyse the colour and texture of your hair so that we can order a hair system that blends seamlessly with your own hair.

Time to place the order for your system

It can take up to two weeks for your new system to be delivered, so we place the order as soon as possible.

Please note that a non-refundable stock fee of 50% of the new system cost must be received in cleared funds before I can order your system.

*** If you cancel after this point, no refund will be made unless I cannot source a suitable system and I am unable to complete the service ***

Get excited!

Time for your fitting.

First I'll shave the area where your system is going to be fitted.  I appreciate this can be upsetting and you can choose whether to face a mirror or not for the whole of this appointment.  Shaving helps ensure the best bond possible between your scalp and your hair system.

Next we tailor the size and shape of the system and apply several layers of system adhesive.

Finally, we fit the system, cut and blend to ensure a seamless finish between your own bio hair and your new system.

Keeping your system looking and feeling great

Your system will need to be refitted from time to time.  The amount of time between refits varies from customer to customer.

Most customers will need a refit between 3 and 5 weeks, but some may need a refit as often as very two weeks, depending on lifestyle and your ability to stick to the aftercare advice provided here.

We will remove your system and cleanse it thoroughly, shave and cleanse your scalp then refit your hair system with fresh adhesive.

With great maintenance and regular refits, your original system should last between 3 and 4 months but occasionally as long as 5 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

You'll be given careful aftercare instruction.  Follow them and your hair systems should last 3-4 months… sometimes as long as 5!

Systems need to be refitted every 3-4 weeks.  Occasionally you may be able to go as long as 5 weeks. If you are highly active or have a physical job you may need a refit every 2-3 weeks.  Refitting includes trimming of your natural hair and styling as necessary.

Yes ... and no!

Your hair systems is carefully coloured to match your natural hair.  Over-washing will lead to drying out the system and fading the colour.  We recommend shampooing no more than once a week. You can rinse and condition your hair system as much as you want between shampoos.

Since the hair system will receive none of your natural scalp oils, conditioning is vital to keep your system in the best condition.  Occasional use of the Hair Presence System Boost conditioning treatment and frequent use of the Hair Presence Leave-In Conditioning Spray will help immensely.

Avoiding harsh shampoos will help preserve the colour and condition of your system.

You will be given clear instructions on aftercare and I will go through the recommended products with you too.

The hair system is made of human hair, but since you will be shampooing your hair much less it is important to use water-soluble styling and finishing products that rinse away easily.  That means avoiding waxy or oily products.

You can find the rest of my aftercare recommendations here

In the time between refits, any hair under the system that grows is usually fairly insignificant and will be trimmed off when the system is removed during the refit.
